A daydreamy post

Tara at After the rain tagged me in this post to answer questions about what I would do if I could.  It was actually surprisingly harder than I thought it would be, but I really enjoyed doing it!

If I could live anywhere…I would stay in JBR because I love it.  There is a lot to say about living by the sea (you’re right to dream of it Tara and I hope it happens for you!). It’s very calming to look out at that big horizon and just lying on the beach makes you feel relaxed.  Plus it’s very cool to live five minutes from a big cinema and fab restaurants and bars all with that great view!  It’s also such a change of pace from London and the novelty has still not worn off…

If I could have any home…I would love a house that I own and can decorate how I want (I may let Bond have a say in it…) and that I know is all mine!  I think i’d like something classic but contemporary with a lot of mod cons and maybe a pool…I really would enjoy that.  I love to swim and the idea of meandering out to my own pool feels so decadent.  Bizarrely in spite of being short I really like high ceilings so that would probably feature.  Also if you’ve seen ‘Revenge’ I quite fancy a balcony off my bedroom that I can sit and look pensive on…wow now I am thinking of this the perfect home is building itself in my imagination!

If I could have any garden…oh wow what I wouldn’t give for a garden!  It would be wonderful although I have a black thumb so I do feel very sorry for anything I may try to grow in said garden!  I would probably have a greenhouse so I could have Orchids because I love them or a conservatory maybe (obviously the survival of all this will fall to Bond)?  A pond/lake/water-feature would be great!  I like fishing so maybe a lake I could fish in?  To be honest I think I am just stealing my uncle’s garden at this point which is gorgeous so I’ll take his outdoor bbq and deck with the fire pit too and just admit he’s my ‘garden muse’!

If I could be on holiday right now…I would be delighted!!  It’s one week till my holiday and I am so excited!  If I could choose a once in a life-time destination it would be Japan because I am fascinated by the culture and have been forever.  I’d also love to go back to Ohio to see some family there, it feels like far too long since I went back! I’m also keen to go back to Turkey, it’s still up there as one of the weeks I laughed hardest! The ultimate for Bond and I is to do a safari – one day I hope it happens.

If I could have any job…it would be one where I feel like I am giving back.  I like helping people and I would love a job that offered me that.  One day I hope to get the opportunity to volunteer and do more.

If I could have any talent…it would be to speak languages.  I come from a family of multilingual people and yet I just can’t seem to get a grip on a foreign language.  It just seems to have skipped me by.  It would be so amazing to be able to speak a different language!

If I could live any day again…I feel quite lucky that a fair few jumped in to my mind for this one but it has made it rather hard to choose!  My parent’s wedding was such a special day, we really became a family and you could feel all the joy.  Meeting Bond, although our meeting story isn’t that romantic I can’t imagine my life had I not met him that day, it was so random and I hate to think what would have happened if a friend hadn’t persuaded me to come out that night!  The one sad day I would change is the last day I saw my grandmother, if I had known then that it was the last time I would have said way more.

If I could have any superpower…I would be able to be in two places at once!  I love Dubai but there are times I would love to be at a friends birthday or special occasion elsewhere but I can’t miss work!  How wonderful for no one to notice I was missing and to get to do it all!

Thank you Tara for this, it made me think!  If any of you would like to participate then please do – it’s a really fun one!  Also if you look at the diagram it’s actually good for you…

What a great post. I also love Japan, I even thought about applying to attend university there (sent for all the brochures and started learning the language). Thanks for taking part 🙂

Oh it would have been so cool to have studied in Japan – what made you decide against it? I really enjoyed it, made me think a bit…although now I am dreaming of a house and garden which is playing havoc with typing up minutes…oops!

I simply couldn’t afford it. I’m not sure how much I would have liked it either. Luckily I had a blast at university so it’s not really a regret. I would like to go one day though. Good luck with your minutes 🙂

I have heard it’s very expensive and quite full on as it’s so culturally different. It’s probably best for a visit – have you ever been? I finally finished one load of minutes and then sat through another meeting which also require minutes!

I had to take minutes in my last role and I really struggled because when I was covering them as a journalist if it was boring (and not a story) I just left. Obviously couldn’t do that when I was taking notes. Hehe.

Oh the temptation to leave is huge!! Amazingly here the culture is so different, everyone rocks up late and people check their phones and do sporadically leave without excusing themselves!! For the Brits it’s quite odd…punctuality is just not a ‘thing’ here at all!
