On Friday night I organised a dinner with a few friends to have a bit of a pork feast. It’s not easy to come across a decent sausage here in Dubai and my friend S and I were really fancying one. We did some googling and came across a restaurant we thought had real promise. With the location agreed a guest list was formed and a time and date set for our themed evening of all things Pork and English!
The Reform is an outpost of the London restaurant in Marylebone. I hadn’t been there in years but remembered it being rather wonderful and traditional. The pictures on the website looked gorgeous too. Unfortunately it was too hot to sit outside but he garden looked lovely when we walked past. The inside of the restaurant is lovely and the bar area is great. Typically Bond and I were early and so got stuck into a cocktail. I had a yummy Bellini and rather cruelly texted a picture of myself drinking it to a champagne loving friend of mine who was stuck in London traffic – revenge for all those lazy Sundays she messages me about while I am at work!!
We were joined by our friend D and his friend J who just moved to the UAE, my bestie managed to get the evening off and S was obviously there having instigated the idea! It was great to meet someone new and we all promised to make sure his wife settles in well – I see a ladies night in her future for sure!
The Reform lived up to expectations, the food was excellent and the staff were fantastic. We were able to sit for ages without feeling hassled to give up the table and they kept the drinks coming too. Bond and I shared the Farmer’s Hog Board. This was essentially every form of pork you could imagine, the highlight being the sausage roll which I absolutely loved!
We all agreed that this was a terrific evening and that we will have to go back soon! If you’re in Dubai and you want a real taste of England then head to the Reform ASAP.
