The museum of my life…

This is clearly my approach to throwing…

Yesterday evening my mother and I had a comical skype call!  My parents own a flat in London where I lived before moving to Dubai…as a result a lot of my things have ended up in storage there.  These are of course things I felt I would ‘need’ in the future and of course winter clothes that are too heavy for here but that I do actually need for when I visit London and Berlin (or indeed anywhere else that has actual winters!)  My mother decided that she wanted to ‘clear’ the storage area which of course meant going through my possessions…

She was quite zealously keen to do this because my mother LOVES to throw things away.  I am quite the opposite and am a hoarder.  When I moved I even had to have my best friend come over to actually force me to throw things away.  She is as ruthless as my mother.

In spite of said ruthless friend it transpired there were boxes and boxes of things to debate, it seems I even kept all my tights!  Clearly I wanted to be prepared for any eventuality for my visits…you just never know when you might have to be cute at a cocktail party or warm while walking around (best avoided I learned on my last visit!)

My mother held nothing back in her judgement of my fashion choices, it was pretty funny to see certain items through her eyes.  In just over an hour we culled my wardrobe and divided the rest into piles for London, Berlin and Dubai so I can be well dressed internationally (that makes me sound so much more jet set than I actually am!) The greatest achievement of all may be that we managed not to have one single disagreement – no mean feat given how precious I can be about my things!

The great thing is that this was a job that desperately needed to be done and now I don’t have to do it on my stop over in London at Christmas.  So I am VERY grateful to my mother for tackling this!  THANK YOU MUMMY!!
